Chingona [cheen-goh-nah]: A slang word to describe a strong and successful woman

In a world where we are constantly bombarded with negative updates and are in a constant state of existential dread, I remind myself of how lucky I am to be surrounded by incredible women. These women may be the first in their families to achieve remarkable milestones or be pioneers in their industries. Today, I’m thrilled to introduce you to Stephanie Almonte, a close colleague and friend whose positivity and dedication inspire me daily. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing Stephanie’s journey, and now, I want you to meet her through an insightful interview that reveals her story, challenges, and vision.

The Power of Female Leadership in Shaping Industries

Female leaders bring unique perspectives and strengths to the table. They often navigate uncharted territories, balancing their careers with leading their communities and families. Stephanie exemplifies this blend perfectly. Her journey is a testament to how determination and a positive mindset can open doors and create lasting impact.

Stephanie’s story is not just about personal success; it’s about paving the way for others. She embodies the spirit of trailblazing leadership, showing us that with hard work and optimism, we can all help build stronger, more inclusive industries.

Getting to Know Stephanie Almonte: An Interview

Stephanie Almonte: Controller at a high growth CPG brand
Meet Stephanie Almonte, a proud daughter of immigrants, incredible mother, and all around bad ass Latina

I sat down with Stephanie to learn more about her experiences, motivations, and advice for aspiring leaders. Here’s what she shared:

Q1: Tell me about yourself

Stephanie: "I’m a Controller with over 14 years of experience in inventory and operational accounting within growing consumer brands. As a first-generation Latina, I didn’t grow up seeing many women who looked like me in corporate finance, so my path has been built with intention, resilience, and faith. I’m passionate about building strong foundations for businesses while also representing what’s possible for women in our community."

Q2: What motivates you?

Stephanie: "My greatest motivation is my family, especially my two daughters. I know I am their first example of leadership, work ethic, and perseverance, and that responsibility shapes how I show up every day. Everything I build is not just for today, but para que nuestras hijas vean lo que es posible, so they grow up believing there are no limits to what they can become."

Q3: What is your current career, and why did you pick it?

Stephanie: "I’m currently a Controller, leading finance and operational strategy for a growing brand. I didn’t initially set out to become a Controller, but once I discovered how finance influences every part of a business, I chose to lean into it and grow in that direction."

Q4: What career advice would you give a younger version of yourself?

Stephanie: "Trust yourself sooner. Your background, your voice, and your ambition are not obstacles, they are your advantage."

Q5: What do you look forward to in 2026?

Stephanie: "In 2026, I look forward to continuing to grow as a leader while staying present for my family. I’m excited about embracing innovation and new technology in my field, and about continuing to build a career that makes my daughters proud."

The Importance of Building Scalable Financial Strategies

One of the key themes Stephanie emphasized is the value of robust financial planning. For venture-backed startups, private equity portfolio companies, and mission-driven nonprofits, having scalable financial strategies is crucial. These strategies not only support top-line growth but also ensure organizations are investor-ready and sustainable over time.

Stephanie’s approach aligns perfectly with the mission of Toloache Consulting, which aims to empower organizations by building these strong financial foundations. Her insights remind us that financial health is the backbone of any successful venture, and thoughtful planning can unlock tremendous potential.
